Melbourne High School recently received a $32,000 grant from the ARP ESSER III Summer Learning Program. This project will provide Summer Enrichment to eligible Bearkatz in grades 7-12 through two different programs.
The first program, Bearkatz Enrichment, will take 25 students in grades 7-10 on field trips to regional businesses, corporations, and conservation areas to participate in educational science and math activities. The school is in the process of setting dates.
Students who attend 5 or more of the field trips will be entered in a drawing to win a laptop.
“This is a really exciting opportunity for our students,” states principal Tim Massey. “I understand that students value their summer freedom, but this program will also be valuable, and students will have a lot of fun. This program will help our students see how many opportunities are out there for them.”
