Melbourne School District is honored to host a community meeting where citizens can join the Broadband Development Group team members in a collaborative effort searching for solutions for Arkansas lack of digital access in rural communities.

Our current community’s access to the Internet depends on what is available and affordable.  We invite any group of citizens from any county like Rotary Clubs, Lion’s Clubs, church groups, local residents, school leaders, higher education leaders, neighborhood associations and other interested parties to offer ideas, opinions, and concerns at this meeting on December 15 at 5:00 PM in the Melbourne High School cafeteria.

The digital divide we currently experience in rural areas signifies much more than the capacity to watch movies and television shows. As the pandemic has proven, Internet access affects education, health care and work. Without broadband, there are students who cannot turn in their homework and parents who cannot keep their jobs or access health care.

If you have not completed the AR Boradband Now survey please consider completing it before this meeting so the group will have data concerning your rural Internet access availability at your home.  The link to the survey is https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JFSRYZH
