Saturday the Bearkatz hosted the Cedar Ridge Timberwolves on Homecoming. The evening began with the Homecoming Royalty Presentation and crowning of the 2021 Princess and Homecoming Queen. Kaitlyn McCarn was selected as the 2021 Princess and Hallie Weaver was crowned the 2021 Queen.
The Bearkatz completed a JR Girls, SR Boys, and Senior Girls sweep of the Timberwolves on their home court. The Lady Bearkatz and Bearkatz remain undefeated in conference play. The Senior Boys set the tone early with a Layton Hennings slam dunk, which was his second dunk in two nights. The fans in the stadium erupted in cheer and continued to cheer their Bearkatz on throughout the night. The Bearkatz finished with a 53 to 36 victory over the Timberwolves.
The Junior Lady Bearkatz hit the court in the second game of the night and defeated the Timberwolves 32 to 21. The Lady Bearkatz had the night cap and they did not disappoint. It was 37 to 12 lead for the Katz at half time. They cruised to a final score of 59-30.
The 2020 2A Lady Bearkatz State Basketball Champions were recognized during half-time of the Senior Boys game and during the half-time of the JR Girls game the Bearkatz Golf Team was recognized for their state championship they earned in the fall of 2020. Our very own Melbourne High School Cheer team performed a great routine for fans during the half-time of the Senior Girls game.
