Hello, Bearkatz Nation Family!  As you know, the number one goal at Melbourne School District is the safety and security of our students and staff.  Many of you have seen the CDC recommendations regarding schools reopening in the fall.  Some of the posts circulating on social media are the correct recommendations from the CDC; others are made-up versions that can cause fear and panic.

Please be assured that we will keep the lines of communication open with you during this time and that if you do not see the post directly coming from Melbourne School District, it does not apply to our students or school.  The CDC will make recommendations that will be used when making decisions on reopening of school, but the Arkansas Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will set the rules that will be followed by Melbourne Schools when reopening.

As you know, things are changing daily.  This is a new and trying time for all of us, and we are working diligently to provide the best educational future for our students.  Melbourne School District understands that we have students who have compromised immune systems and may not be able to attend school in person in the fall.  Again, the health and safety of our students and staff is our number one priority.

Melbourne School District hopes to be able to reopen in the fall with as much of a “normal” day to day routine as allowable.  However, we want you to know that we are working on options for students to attend school virtually.  We are also working on looking into some blended systems to allow students to safely attend class on campus as they are able to do so.

The Melbourne School District Administration Team is working closely with the Arkansas Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to provide the best learning experiences for each individual student in the fall.  Please continue to monitor our website and social media pages for the most up-to-date and accurate information.
